DAIRY WOODS AND GREEN POLICY

The studio was built with as little environmental impact as was possible and affordable: Dairy Studio received a Bronze Award from GREEN TOURISM in 2004.

Use of sheeps wool insulation which is a sustainalbe material.

All waste water and tiolet is treated on site to produce clean drinking water which casuses no contamination to the enviroment.

Rain water is collected in water butts for watering plants.

Recycled cartridge paper is used for drawing.

The studio runs efficiently with eco light bulbs, recycled paper. We use all milk cartons to filter painting turps prior to them being recycled. We use old clothes, sheets as rags.

All tea/coffee/sugar is fair trade, and all cleaning fluids are Eco friendly.

Summer painting and childrens art courses have a focus on the environment and appreciation of the natural world and a celebration of it. On Firdays the woods are used for a Parent and Toddler Outside activity group whose focus is on Nature.

DAIRY WOODS - why we are cutting down trees?

It may appear to some that we are randomly choping down and killing trees. This could not be further from the truth! We are removing dead and straggly trees in order to save healthy trees by giving them more space, air and light in which to grow. We have noticed more birds and birdsong since opening up the top end of the wood, in particular Tree Creepers.
